Ello!
Today I was re-reading Fahrenheit 451, as you may be able to tell from the title of this post.
And I realized how damn much I love books, and how much I would miss them. The power of books, as Beatty explained, is that they are varied. Anyone can write a book about anything they want. You can write about your own philosophy, about what you personally believe, and no one commands what you write.
Books truly represent the free-thinking world, because they are one way things can be passed on. We have books from thousands of years ago, from men and women who would be absolutely astounded by all the modern world is, but we still enjoy and love the ideas they've passed on.
I hereby pledge, that even if the world around me becomes like that of Montag's, I will always gladly defend books.
